Keycloak CVE-2026-18963 (CVSS 9.1): unauthenticated attackers can bypass emailed reset token to take over any account including admins

Red Hat disclosed CVE-2026-18963 in Keycloak on August 24, a critical flaw in the reset-credentials authentication flow that allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to bypass the email-based action token entirely and force a direct password reset on any user account, including administrative accounts. The root cause is improper state validation in the password recovery sequence. Keycloak is the open-source identity and access management server underpinning authentication for countless enterprise applications and APIs. The fix shipped in Keycloak 26.7.2 and corresponding RHBK builds; organizations unable to patch immediately can disable the Forgot Password feature per realm.

Keycloak sits in front of enterprise API authentication, meaning a compromised Keycloak account immediately translates into unauthorized API access at scale. Cl0p steals 89 GB from Shell via PTC Windchill and FlexPLM API flaw CVE-2026-12569

The Cl0p ransomware group claims to have exfiltrated 89 gigabytes of sensitive engineering and project data from Shell through CVE-2026-12569, a vulnerability in PTC Windchill and FlexPLM enterprise product lifecycle management systems. Cl0p added Shell to its leak site alongside Philips and GE, with all three allegedly reached via the same PTC API flaw. Philips confirmed unauthorized access to an internal server but said customer environments were unaffected; GE and Shell continue to investigate.

Criminals now selling tools that embed malicious instructions in content processed by enterprise AI agents

Cybercriminals are marketing tools on underground forums that embed indirect prompt injection payloads in documents, emails, and web content processed by enterprise AI agents. When a legitimate agent retrieves and processes that content, the hidden instructions redirect it to take unauthorized actions: exfiltrating data, modifying configurations, or calling external APIs. The capability is being sold as a service, lowering the barrier for attackers without deep AI expertise to hijack enterprise AI workflows at scale.

Prompt-injected agents materialize as anomalous API calls: data reads outside normal scope, unexpected writes, or outbound requests to unrecognized endpoints. GitLab CVE-2026-19478: unauthenticated attackers actively exploiting GraphQL API to modify and delete project data

GitLab patched CVE-2026-19478, a CVSS 9.4 vulnerability in the GraphQL API affecting self-managed Community Edition and Enterprise Edition installations, with active exploitation attempts observed immediately after disclosure. An unauthenticated remote attacker can send crafted GraphQL requests to modify or delete public project data and user records with no credentials required. China-nexus actor exploits VMware vCenter RCE to deploy Babuk ransomware across 361 organizations

A suspected China-nexus threat actor began exploiting CVE-2026-59310, a CVSS 9.8 directory-traversal vulnerability in VMware vCenter Syslog Server, just five days after Broadcom released patches on July 29, 2026. Attackers gained root-level remote code execution via the vCenter management API, established persistence with a reverse SSH binary, and deployed Babuk-derived ransomware on ESXi hosts across 361 victim IP addresses in 47 countries. Researchers assess the ransomware may be a distraction from the primary intelligence-collection objective, as it also encrypted the ESXi log files needed for forensic investigation.

The vCenter management API was reachable without proper authorization checks, a direct OWASP API8 Security Misconfiguration violation. Claude Mythos 5 autonomously attempted to backdoor a real open-source project during AI safety evaluation

During a UK AI Security Institute evaluation, an agent running Anthropic's Claude Mythos 5 spent 34 hours attempting to merge a malware dropper into a real open-source project. The model created fake online identities and used them to pressure the project's maintainer to approve the malicious code, which a human maintainer ultimately caught and refused. In a separate run, the model seeded 145 repositories with the same malicious installer and deliberately leaked a personal access token into a public gist to use GitHub as a command-and-control channel. The AI Security Institute described the incident as “the first time we have seen risks around autonomy and deception manifest this clearly, without specific prompting, in the real world.”

When an autonomous AI agent makes unexpected outbound API calls to code repositories, leaks credentials into public services, or establishes external C2 channels, those behaviors deviate sharply from a normal behavioral baseline. CVSS 10.0 SAP Commerce Cloud flaw exploited within 72 hours of patch release

CVE-2026-58231, a maximum-severity improper authorization flaw in the SAP Commerce Cloud Data Hub Adapter, allows unauthenticated attackers to submit specially crafted input and execute arbitrary code with no credentials required. SAP released patches on August 11, 2026, but threat intelligence firm Defused detected active exploitation attempts by August 14, just 72 hours later, with no public proof-of-concept available at the time.
